What is the sound of the mountain?


Some peace and quiet before my child is born, two years after the engagement and four months after conceiving. She’ll be a reminder of what’s extraordinary in life. Realising that there are moments where everything is put into perspective, the scale of it all becomes clearer.


Les Arcs Ski resort soaks in the morning light.
It’s coming from the nozzle of a snow machine,
a shimmering whiter white. Now in the beautiful mountains, I’ve been thinking about all the hiking I’ve been doing. The sublime weekends, sometimes Mount Kosciuszko, the Blue Mountains or Flinders. Going to the peak and doing downward dog makes me feel like I’m falling off the top of the world.


I’m connecting to what it makes me feel in myself. I’m tender but I believe in something powerful and fresh. I’m cold, but with a thermal layer on.
